A smooth transition to TU
Support for transfer students begins well before your first day as a Tiger
Whether you started your pursuit of a degree in higher education at a community college or another university entirely, Towson University can still make its momentum yours. As a national leader in inclusive excellence and the No. 1 public university in Maryland, TU students are set up for success beyond graduation.
“Our campus culture is very transfer friendly,” says Jennifer Mercer, director of transfer admissions. “We make sure all students at TU, including transfers, have a clear pathway to success and a sense of belonging on our campus.”
The most difficult thing when transferring is making sure your credits transfer, and my advisor made the whole process easy.
Sawyer Gray ’26
Sawyer Gray ’26, a transfer student to the College of Education and elementary education major, followed in her mother’s, father’s and brother’s footsteps when she decided TU was right for her. “There was no other option,” Gray says.
Beginning her higher education journey at College of Southern Maryland, Gray immediately connected with a transfer advisor at TU who provided guidance on what credits would transfer to TU.
“My transfer advisor laid out my entire program for me,” says Gray. “The most difficult thing when transferring is making sure your credits transfer, and my advisor made the whole process easy.”

“Towson University is an excellent choice for anyone who wants to transfer because of the support system,” Gray notes. “I love how it’s set up—being here helps you get out of your comfort zone and make friends throughout the experience.”
Now a junior, Gray serves as a transfer student ambassador, sharing her passion and pride for TU with other potential students. “I want people to feel comfortable and learn everything they can about how great it is here when they come to visit,” she says. “I know that once the students are here and get involved, they’ll have a smooth transition to TU.”
Pre-Transfer Student Resources and Programs
Pre-transfer advising is offered to all prospective transfer students to plan their courses, explore degree possibilities and learn more about transferring. Prospective students can also benefit from additional support through the Transfer Tiger Pact or Degrees to Succeed programs.

Transfer Tiger Pact
Maryland community college students interested in TU can become part of the Transfer Tiger Pact, guaranteeing admission and a clear pathway to earn a bachelor’s degree from TU. Students in this program receive individualized transfer plan and support, insider access to TU and financial assistance.

Degrees to Succeed
Degrees to Succeed is a transfer partnership that allows you to complete your associate degree at Community College of Baltimore County and transfer credits seamlessly to earn your bachelor’s degree at Towson University.
