Biography

Dr. Murphy specializes in contemporary Southern and African American literature with an emphasis on masculinity and sexual otherness. He frequently presents conference papers on the works of Eudora Welty and has published articles on Welty and fellow Mississippi author Lewis Nordan. A consummate reader of memoirs, he has recently expanded his research interests to include the study of autobiographical writing. At Towson, he primarily teaches ENGL 102.
