Biography

Originally from Germany, Reiner Prochaska came to the United States in 1990.

He has been teaching business writing, freshmen composition, advanced informational writing, and screen writing/screen adaptation from novels at Towson University since the fall semester of 2001.  

He has also taught business writing and advanced argumentation at the University of Maryland, College Park, and world literature at Shepherd University. 

Reiner's professional background includes a job as a budget officer for the United States Air Forces in Europe, a position as Senior Trainer with Chevy Chase Bank/First USA Bank, and a freelance career as writer, actor (since June 2012 he has been represented by Cathy Parker Management), and filmmaker since 2002.

His first feature film—based on the novel that earned him his graduate degree—premiered in May 2006 at the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival, where it won a prize.

He is a company member of the Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) in Frederick, Maryland, where he acts, directs, teaches, and writes. His stage adaptation of Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales premiered in the spring of 2010 to enthusiastic audiences and critical acclaim. New Theatre Publications acquired the rights to the script in January 2012. His new adaptation of Sophocles’Antigone premiered at the MET in the spring of 2012.
