Biography

Stephen Erik Hartmark completed his doctoral coursework in Social Theory and Social Psychology at the University of Maryland, College Park under Barbara Meeker, Richard Brown, and George Ritzer. He has worked on education reform and underserved community issues during new schools initiatives in Baltimore, MD. Courses taught include Urban Sociology, Social Problems, Introduction to Social Psychology, Deviant Behavior, Individual & Society, Introduction to Sociology, Family, and Sociology of Education. His research focuses on theories of social identity, individuation, and problems of inequality with an interest in alternatives to logical empiricism and its modeling of level of analysis effects. He has been an internship coordinator for the Department since 2007.
