Biography

Dr. Liu is a Professor in the Department of Elementary Education at Towson University. She received her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Language and Literacy from Texas Tech University. She teaches literacy courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and is the academic advisor for the Master of Arts in Teaching program. From 2018-2023, she served at the graduate program director for the M.Ed. in Elementary Education program.

Research Interests

Her research interests include literacy studies in international settings, reading processes of Chinese heritage language learners, and multicultural children’s literature. Her work has been published as many book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles.
