Biography

Carrie Fucile is an interdisciplinary artist who works with sound, installation, and performance. Her practice is primarily concerned with the psychological and historical aspects of geographical territory. She is known for producing sound by manipulating found objects and subjecting them to various technological processes.
Fucile has presented her work at numerous venues around the world including The Walters Art Museum, Baltimore; IA&A at Hillyer, Washington, DC; Vox Populi, Philadelphia; Casa Contemporânea, São Paulo, and the Director's Lounge, Berlin. As an avid traveler she has attended residencies at D'CLINIC in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary and World of CO in Sofia, Bulgaria and roamed extensively through Central and Eastern Europe engaging in research for her practice. She is a three time recipient of the Maryland State Arts Council's Individual Artist Award.
At Towson University, Professor Fucile teaches in the Foundations, Digital Art + Design, and MFA in Studio Arts programs. She concentrates on the use of digital tools as a vehicle for interdisciplinary and experimental forms.
