Towson University’s CompTIA A+ training course will prepare you for CompTIA A+ certification exams 220-1001 and 220-1002. You’ll learn how to install and configure operating systems, expand IT security, troubleshoot software and other common operational procedures.

Course Format: Self-paced, online

Total Hours: 290 hours

Tuition: $2,499

Program Duration: Must be completed in 6 months

Materials: Tuition includes all instructional materials and a voucher for both Core 1 and Core 2 exams.

This course is WIOA approved and is on the Maryland Eligible Training Provider List (ETPL). Students obtaining support through WIOA offices should contact Chunta Rivers via email at to initiate the registration process.

Hardware Requirements

  • This course can be taken on either a PC or Mac.
  • Webcams are strongly recommended.

  • PC: Windows 7 or later.
  • Mac: OS 10.x or later.
  • Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are preferred. Microsoft Edge and Safari are also compatible.

James E. Mitchell Jr is the lead instructor for our CompTIA A+, Network+ & Security+ course and provides support and mentorship for students. He brings over a decade of experience in computer repair, network security, and help desk support and more than 20 years of experience in cyber security. He previously led telecommunications teams at Comcast and Verizon and was a subject matter expert for BCCC’s cyber security program. He currently operates testing centers offering PearsonVue, ETS, Kryterion, Certi-Port, and Scantron exams. In addition to a degree in electronics and computer technology, he actively holds certifications in CompTia A+, Network+, Security+, CCNA and CEH.
