Student Organizations

Accounting students looking for ways to build their professional networks while gaining vital teamwork and leadership skills are encouraged to participate in one or more of the department's three student organizations. Each one offers students a chance to get involved with others who share similar interests and career goals.

Beta Alpha Psi — Iota Zeta Chapter

The Beta Alpha Psi — Iota Zeta Chapter is a nationally chartered co-ed accounting honorary fraternity open to accounting, finance and information systems students once they reach junior class standing and have attained a 3.20 grade point average. By participating in meetings with business professionals in addition to service and social activities, Beta Alpha Psi provides its members with many opportunities to interact with business professionals. Weekly meetings are held each Tuesday at 5 p.m. in Stephens Hall, room 310.

National Association of Black Accountants

The TU chapter of the brings together accountants, finance and business-related professionals and students who have similar interests and ideals, are committed to professional and academic excellence, possess a sense of professional and civic responsibility and are concerned with enhancing opportunities for minorities in the accounting, finance and business-related professions. As one of the newest student organizations, NABA is open to all students interested in accounting. The organization hosts guest speakers and sponsors numerous campus events. Towson University Society of Accountancy

The helps accounting students develop and hone business skills for transitions into the workforce. Some of the benefits for participating students include meeting representatives from accounting firms and businesses in the Baltimore area, attending workshops for resume building and receiving tutoring sessions for lower-level accounting classes. The society also participates in several community service events throughout the semester and coordinates events to build lasting friendships and great memories. The group meets Mondays from 5 to 6 p.m. in Stephens Hall, room 204.
