Accounting and pre-accounting majors can apply for department scholarships to be awarded for the upcoming academic year until January 15 of the current academic year , except as noted below for the Accounting Advisory Board Scholarships.

Many other College of Business and Economics and university-wide scholarships may be available to you.  

Accounting Advisory Board Scholarship for Incoming Freshmen

The Accounting Advisory Board Scholarship is open to first-year students who intend to pursue a career in accounting. The scholarship is renewable. Applications for initial awards for the upcoming academic year can be submitted through March 1 of the current academic year. Your application must include a current resume, unofficial transcript, an essay, and a letter of recommendation. Applicants must use their TU ID to apply.

Accounting Department Scholarships For Current Students

The accounting department awards the following scholarships to current students with an accounting major who meet the other requirements.

Accounting Alumni Scholarship

The Accounting Alumni Scholarship is open to continuing sophomore, junior, senior, graduate, and second-bachelor's-degree students majoring in accounting who have an overall GPA of 3.0.  Full-time and part-time students can apply. Preference is given to those who demonstrate financial need.

Deloitte Scholarship in Accounting

The Deloitte Scholarship in Accounting is open to continuing sophomore, junior or senior students majoring in accounting who have an overall GPA of 3.40. A statement of professional goals is required. Preference given to a Maryland resident, and all else being equal, financial need. Eligible students must submit at least one faculty recommendation.

Department of Accounting General Scholarship

The Department of Accounting General Scholarship is open to continuing sophomore, junior, senior, graduate, and second bachelors students majoring in accounting who have an accounting GPA of 2.70 and an overall GPA of 2.30 or better (transferred grades will not be used in GPA determinations). Active involvement in student organizations (especially BAP, NABA or TUSA), volunteer or community service activities, and any accounting internships are also taken into consideration.

Ellin & Tucker Scholarship

This scholarship is open to junior students who have been admitted to the accounting major during their junior year and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher in their major and overall. A separate application form (PDF) and nomination by a professor within the College of Business and Economics is required. Other conditions apply.

Kenneth and Renee Moreland Accounting Scholarship

The Kenneth and Renee Moreland Accounting Scholarship awards full-time meritorious students with a declared major in accounting who have an overall GPA of 3.0 and a GPA of 3.5 in accounting courses. 

Renewals of the Accounting Advisory Board Scholarship

Available only to current Accounting Advisory Board Scholarship Recipients

Renewal applications for the current academic year can be submitted through June 1 of the current academic year. In order to qualify for the scholarship renewal, recipients must:

  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA for required accounting classes with no grade less than a 鈥淐鈥 and 3.0 overall GPA.
  • Have taken at least two Accounting courses during the previous academic year.
  • Pursue a full-time course load (i.e., complete a minimum of 12 credits overall) during both fall & spring terms of the academic year covered by this scholarship.
  • Maintain continuous enrollment and progress toward the graduation requirements for the bachelor鈥檚 degree in accounting.
  • Have a history of participation in student organizations, volunteer activities, internships, community or international service projects during the college experience (provide current resum茅).

Your renewal application must include current versions of your resum茅 and unofficial transcript.

SC&H Excellence in Accounting Scholarship

The SC&H Excellence in Accounting Scholarship is open to continuing sophomore, junior, senior and graduate students majoring in accounting who have an accounting GPA of 2.70 and an overall GPA of  2.30 or better (transferred grades will not be used in GPA determinations). Leadership positions or active involvement in student organizations, volunteer or community service activities, and any accounting internships are also taken into consideration.  

National & Regional Accounting Scholarships

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) offers a variety of need- and merit-based scholarships for students across the country. 

The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) is a nonprofit corporation established by Congress to oversee the audits of public companies in order to protect investors and the public interest. It offers merit-based scholarships to students who are nominated by accredited U.S. colleges and 麻豆传媒 that award bachelor's or master's degrees in accounting. PCAOB uses a statistical process to select educational institutions that are eligible to provide student nominations annually. Schools selected as nominating institutions in a given year are not considered for selection for the next five years or until all institutions in the respective group have been selected, whichever occurs first.  Towson University was selected as a nominating institution during 2018. 

The Maryland Association of CPAs (MACPA) Educational Foundation provides scholarships to eligible accounting majors at any Maryland college or university..

The Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) provides scholarships to accounting majors nominated by a faculty member.  . IMA also provides additional scholarship and award opportunities through the

The Educational Foundation for Women in Accounting (EFWA), which partners with the Institute of Management Accountants, has three annual scholarships that are awarded to women at the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels and include CMA exam fees and IMA membership. . 

The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Baltimore Chapter provides scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in accounting, finance, information systems, or other business-related fields.  .
