Do you want to make a difference? Create something new and innovative? Solve a daunting challenge?
Inquire, Create, Innovate
If you wish to pursue a degree that will help you to start and facilitate a dynamic career, create a new company, or address an important issue like climate change or sustainability, look no further.
The Entrepreneurship programs at Towson University provide you with skills, competencies, and a mindset that will help you to recognize opportunities and develop them into actionable strategies, bringing innovations to life.
Innovation is the key driver of change and the future. ‘Change’ is an ever-present occurrence in today’s world. A major concern of business leaders is that a competitor will create an innovation that changes their industry. These leaders need and look to people with skills related to creative thinking and innovation.
Employers want to hire people who can navigate the innovation process by exploring new ideas and bringing new products or services to their customers. With the skills you learn in the entrepreneurship program, you could create a new company for your innovative idea, or you could succeed in any organization through the competencies in innovation and opportunity development you have learned at TU.
Towson University's entrepreneurship program will teach you valuable skills such as:
- An entrepreneurial mindset that takes ideas from concept to completion
- Recognizing opportunities and how to determine if they are worth pursuing
- How to deal with ambiguity and pivot to realistic pathways forward
- Take a holistic approach that allows you to critically think how to solve complex issues
- Effectively and persuasively communicate to pitch your ideas
What do our Entrepreneurship graduates report?
- Greater career success than their peers
- Higher levels of critical professional competencies than their peers that are important to employers
- Landing more dynamic job roles than their peers
We offer several programs for you to gain these skills.
Entrepreneurship Programs
Concentration in Entrepreneurship
The concentration in entrepreneurship is open to all business majors. We offer several electives that allow you to tailor your education to your interests (for example, tackling a social mission).
Minor in Entrepreneurship
The minor in entrepreneurship is open to anyone at Towson University. Plus, you may have already taken a course that counts in the minor. More than 50 entrepreneurship and innovation-oriented courses from across the university can be used as an elective in our minor.
Certificate in Entrepreneurship - It's Stackable!
Are you interested but not ready to commit? Take some classes and see if it's right for you. The certificate in entrepreneurship is comprised of 4 courses. As a bonus, you can then count these four classes toward the minor or concentration in entrepreneurship. This is what we mean by "stackable."
Admission Requirements
Business administration is a screened major. Students are admitted to the business administration major (BUAD) only after successfully completing a set of required courses with a C or higher in each of those courses and an overall TU GPA of 2.0 or higher. See all admission requirements.
