Advising

Faculty within the Department of Kinesiology serve as Academic Advisors, providing support and guidance as student complete their academic journey.

General Information

All first-year freshmen at Towson University are assigned to a First-Year Experience (FYE) adviser. This adviser will guide you through your first academic year. More information about the FYE experience can be found at the Academic Advising, Retention & Completion Office.

Sophomores and transfer students majoring in the Department of Kinesiology are assigned to a faculty adviser within their area of study. This faculty member serves as your academic adviser for the remainder of your time in our programs. The academic adviser will also help you complete and file a Degree Completion Plan by the end of your sophomore year or first year after transferring in. More information about transfer student advising can be found at the Academic Advising, Retention & Completion Office.  Transfer planning resources for prospective students are available at the Transfer Admissions

Prior to each fall and spring registration period, a Mandatory Advising Hold is placed on every continuing undergraduate student’s account. The department holds advising periods in March and October. Students will receive notification of available advising dates via email and class announcements. It is the student's responsibility to seek an appointment during this time to receive registration guidance and to have the Mandatory Advising Hold removed.
