Photographic Imaging Concentration
Gain an understanding of the design, composition, light and color required to create visually compelling and moving photo images.
You will develop advanced capabilities and enhance your aesthetic and artistic creativity in contemporary photo imaging. Build your proficiency in traditional, alternative, digital image media technology and motion technology.
Photo Imaging offers students the opportunity to work with digital images and state of the art medium and large format Epson printers as well as with film in a traditional darkroom and video equipment and editing software. The renovated lab space has been designed to allow for the integration of analog and digital technologies. A fully equipped lighting studio is available where students have access to large format cameras and other equipment.
Courses in the Photo Imaging concentration are designed to give students a strong
technical, conceptual and aesthetic foundation for creating contemporary imagery as
well as an understanding of professional possibilities for the medium. One such course
acquaints you with real-world technology through exposure to regional professionals,
who provide field experiences on a rotating basis in their studios, service bureaus
and digital labs. You also visit regional graduate programs to explore advanced degrees
in the fine arts. Students in the concentration can complete the B.S./B.A. or B.F.A.
in the Undergraduate Catalog.
