The Jess and Mildred Fisher College of Science and Mathematics (FCSM) announces the availability of the John B. ’71 and Sharon Hafner Yingling ’71  Scholarship,  established by John B. and Sharon Hafner Yingling in March, 2022.  The Yingling’s wanted to honor Sharon’s time as a Biology major and a long time career in science.  The scholarship will be awarded to undergraduate students majoring in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy or Geosciences.

Eligibility and Criteria:

• Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate students,

• Enrolled in the Department of Biological Sciences, Department of Chemistry or Department of Physics, Astronomy and Geological Sciences,

• Demonstrated a strong allegiance to the advancement of women in science,

• Have a cumulative GPA. of 3.0 or higher, and

• Demonstrated financial need as defined by the Financial Aid Office.

Award Amount:

$1,000 for one-year.

Application Procedure:

• Compile a resume (include your TU ID number) and and a one-page essay describing how you have demonstrated a strong allegiance to the advancement of women in science.  Have these in two separate Word or PDF files.
• Log on: .
• Move the cursor over the top menu item Opportunities and click on "All" in the drop-down menu.  This will take you to all currently open scholarships.
• Scroll through the list to find the John B. '71 and Sharon Hafner Yingling '71 Scholarship and click on this scholarship.  Information about eligibility, the award amount, the application deadline date, and items you will need to upload are given.  If this scholarship has already been awarded, it will not appear in the list.
• Click on the Complete your General Application to apply.
