Elections
The annual election of executive, judicial and senatorial officers for SGA takes place each spring term. The 2024 SGA election cycle is listed below. Read more about how the election cycle works below.
SGA Election Commission
The SGA election is coordinated by an independent group of undergraduate students known as the 鈥淪GA Election Commission.鈥 This is an impartial group of students responsible for all facets of the SGA election including marketing, promotion of candidates, election administration and for enforcement of the SGA election policy. Any questions that candidates or prospective candidates have regarding the election process should be sent to the election commission. Throughout the election cycle, SGA election commissioners hold weekly office hours.
Running for SGA
Any person seeking an SGA elected office must be a full time fee-paying undergraduate student with at least 2.500 cumulative GPA. To run, a petition must be signed out from the SGA administrative assistant in the SGA office, University Union, room 263. Students may sign out a petition to run for the position of president, vice president, treasurer, attorney general, senator or justice. Petitions require the signatures of 200 undergraduate TU students.
Voting
Only currently enrolled TU undergraduate students are eligible to vote in the SGA election. All voting will take place on Involved@TU (www.towson.edu/involvedTU) and can be done via computer or mobile device, whether on-campus or off-campus. During the election days, the election commission will host polling locations across campus to encourage students to vote on their phones.
