Artificial Intelligence (AI) Design Assistant: Implementation
Status: in progress. With instructors in control, the AI Design Assistant uses artificial intelligence to streamline the Blackboard course building process, giving subject matter experts a head start on creating engaging, effective Learn Ultra courses.
The AI Design Assistant was created in accordance with Anthology's Trustworthy AI framework, and makes Blackboard Learn the first major LMS to leverage generative AI capabilities to benefit instructors and instructional designers. .
Timeline
2023
- Sept. - AI Design Assistant became available for Blackboard Ultra Customers.
2024
- Feb. - OTS Digital Learning Platforms (DLP) team began testing AI Design Assistant in their staged environment.
- Sept. - Service request received for AI Design Assistant to be turned on in Blackboard. A demo was held for IITC, then all members were enrolled in a course to test, use and show AI Design Assistant to their departments and colleges, including the SGA.
- Oct. - Feedback was received and responded to by DLP.
- Dec. - IITC approved turn on of the AI Design Assistant feature
2025
- Feb. - Webpage Live and communication email sent from the Blackboard Organiation site to all instructors.
- Feb - March - Demos held and request for Bb AI Champions
- March 19th - Bb AI Design Assistant Available on Blackboard Production
Project Resources
Intro Course: Join the Anthology Blackboard AI Champion Course to understand, analyze, and create content using Anthology Blackboard AI Design Assistant. The course will be online March 23 - April 23 with asynchronous and synchronous components.
Class Collaborate contract ends: move to Zoom
Status: in progress. Access to Class Collaborate services is ending on May 23.
Timeline
- Sept. 2022 - Blackboard Collaborate Ultra was acquired by Class Technologies, who agreed to honor existing Anthology contracts.
- May 23, 2025 - TU's access to Class Collaborate ends and TU's contract with Collaborate Ultra expires.
