Support for Students

The Divisions of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs work collaboratively with faculty to ensure the curricular, co-curricular and personal success of graduate and undergraduate students. 

Overview

Faculty members may contact the appropriate office or center directly for additional information about resources and procedures, as well as for making referrals. The Office of the Provost also provides support for faculty working with students that may need additional support and assistance in order to thrive on campus.

Tutoring & Learning Center

The Tutoring & Learning Center provides tutoring, workshops, and coaching for students.

Academic Advising, Retention & Completion Office

The Academic Advising, Retention & Completion Office coordinates advising at Towson University, maintaining a staff of professional advisers and working with academic departments to recruit faculty for the First-Year Experience (FYE) program.

CARE (Concerned About a Student)

The university’s CARE Team coordinates support resources that assist students in being successful academically and in promoting their health and well-being. If you are concerned about the well-being of a TU community member, please contact the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA) by calling (410) 704-2055, or by submitting the online .

Cook Library

services include research sources and support, librarian liaisons for each department, and classroom instruction. Services for faculty are also provided.

Counseling Center

The Counseling Center is the primary source of personal counseling and psychological help on campus for students. The Center offers faculty consultation services to support and advise you when you are dealing with students in distress. Faculty are not expected to provide personal counseling to students. Rather, faculty play an important role in encouraging students to use campus resources, including facilitating a referral to the Counseling Center, Health Center, and Accessibility & Disability Services.

Accessibility & Disability Services

The Office of Accessibility & Disability Services works with faculty and students to provide accommodations for students with disabilities.

Student Accountability & Restorative Practices

The Office of Student Accountability & Restorative Practices adjudicates alleged violations of the Code of Student Accountability and, if appropriate, issue sanctions. Faculty can contact the office with questions regarding syllabus design related to student conduct and behavioral expectations. The office provides faculty consultations for those who see behavior of concern in their classroom and can provide in-class sessions on the topics of civility and ethical decision making.

Writing Support Services

Writing Support Services includes support for both undergraduate and graduate students, , and the English Language Center.
