This Ethics & Compliance Hotline (SpeakTU) is a 24-hour / 7 days a week third-party service for reporting possible illegal, unethical or improper conduct.
What is this Ethics & Compliance Hotline?
This hotline allows any Towson University employee or others to report ethics and compliance violations by calling 877-773-2588 or .
This phone and web-based reporting service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is run by an independent third-party provider, EthicsPoint.
What Can I Report to the Ethics & Compliance Hotline?
You can report violations such as: professional misconduct, fraud, theft/embezzlement, improper giving or gifts, employee misconduct, data privacy/integrity issues, research grant misconduct or misappropriation of costs, and environmental and safety matters.
How Do I Make a Report?
There are two ways to submit a report:
- Select “Make a Report” on the OR
- Dial toll-free, within the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico and Canada:
877-SPEAKTU (877-773-2588).
What Happens Next?
After you complete your report, you will be assigned a unique code called a “report key.” Write down your report key and password and keep them in a safe place.
How will I be notified of any status updates?
You will need to use the your assigned "report key" and password to check the status, feedback or any questions related to your report.

Additional Anonymous Hotlines
Both the University System of Maryland (USM) Office of Internal Audit and the State of Maryland Office of Legislative Audits (OLA) offer anonymous hotlines by which individuals may report suspected fraudulent activity. Both reporting options offer a toll-free phone number as well as the option of online referrals.
