As a TU faculty or staff member, you can pick and choose from an array of benefits choices to meet your needs.

State of Maryland Health Benefits

Towson University’s health benefits fall under the State of Maryland. The options include:

Benefits run on the Calendar Year (CY). Opportunities to enroll are:

  1. newly hired employees (effective date 1st of the month following date of hire)
  2. Employees with a life event (see details below) such as marriage, birth, divorce, death, loss of coverage, etc. (must be reported within 60 day of event). Life event requires documentation (see documentation info section below).
  3. open enrollment occurring annually each fall (effective date 1st of the following calendar year)

TU faculty and staff can manage their employee benefits online using Workday. Visit our Workday page for login information and instructions on viewing your benefits or making changes to your benefits after a life event.

Planning to add dependents to your benefits?

  • Required dependent(s) documentation must be uploaded or your enrollment will not progress forward.
  • Employees can scan or take pictures of the required documentation.  PDF or JPEG formats only.
  • Upload documents to the attachments box located at the end of your event.

Please examine your document carefully, if you do not posses the proper version, you will have to order the correct document.

  • Common document examples include:
    • Children require an Official Birth Certificate
    • Spouses require a Certified Copy of the marriage Certificate issued by the court clerk. 

      They will NOT accept a marriage license labeled as certificate.  If it is:

      • Only signed by an officiant (pastor, priest, rabbi, reverend, etc.)
      • Dated Prior to the Date of Marriage or on the Date of Marriage - For example, a marriage license
      • Untranslated if married outside of the United States.  

WHERE CAN I OBTAIN THE CORRECT DOCUMENTATION?

  • For a certified copy of your marriage certificate - The courthouse in the county of marriage 
  • For a birth certificate - Division of Vital Records in the State of the child's birth 
  • For a Translated copy of your marriage certificate - Google search "official translators near me" or contact TU's Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures

Documentation for Life Events

Life events must be reported within 60 days of the event. Required supporting documentation must be attached to the Event in Workday.

Prescription Drug Program

The prescription drug program is a free-standing benefit and you must be enrolled in order to participate.  Prescription Drugs are not included in the Medical Plans.

2024 Prescription Drug program is administered by   Contact CVS/Caremark at 1-800-863-5488.

Effective January 1, 2025 MedImpact is the State of Maryland’s Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM)
