Workday for Benefits
Workday is the State of Maryland’s Statewide Personnel System (SPS) that TU uses to manage health benefits enrollment and elections for faculty and staff. This system is only used for managing State of MD Health Benefits.
What do I use Workday for?
Workday enables TU faculty and staff to:
- Enroll for the first time as a new hired employee (effective date 1st of the month
following date of hire).
Email invite sent to TU email within two to three weeks of your hire date from: shared.services maryland<stateofmaryland@myworkday.com>
noreply@Onelogin.com. Tip: If the link received is expired, click forgot password for a new active link. - Report a life event such as marriage, birth, divorce, death, loss of coverage, etc. (must be reported within 60 day of event). Life events require documentation (see guides and documentation info section below).
- Enroll or make changes during Open Enrollment (effective date January 1st)

Don't know your W Number (State of MD Benefits ID)?
- Go to mytu.towson.edu.
- Select the PeopleSoft HCM tile.
- Sign in using your NetID and password.
- Click the Personal Data Summary tile.
- Scroll down to the Employee Information section.
- Your W number is located beside Workday Benefits ID.

Planning to add dependents to your benefits?
- Required dependent(s) documentation must be uploaded or your enrollment will not progress forward. You have 60 days from your event date.
- Employees can scan or take pictures of the required documentation. PDF or JPEG formats only.
- Upload documents to the attachments box located at the end of your event.

Please examine your document carefully, if you do not posses the proper version, you will have to order the correct document.
- Common document examples include:
- Children require an Official Birth Certificate
- Spouses require a Certified Copy of the marriage Certificate issued by the court clerk.
They will NOT accept a marriage license labeled as certificate. If it is:
- Only signed by an officiant (pastor, priest, rabbi, reverend, etc.)
- Dated Prior to the Date of Marriage or on the Date of Marriage - For example, a marriage license
- Untranslated if married outside of the United States.
WHERE CAN I OBTAIN THE CORRECT DOCUMENTATION?
- For a certified copy of your marriage certificate - The courthouse in the county of marriage
- For a birth certificate - Division of Vital Records in the State of the child's birth
- For a Translated copy of your marriage certificate - Google search "official translators near me" or contact TU's Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures
domestic partner eligibility & requirements
Domestic Partner Eligibility:
– lived together for at least 12 months
– not married to anyone else nor have another domestic partner
– at least 18 years of age and mentally competent to consent to contract
– reside together in the same residence and intend to do so indefinitely
– have an exclusive mutual commitment similar to that of marriage
– are jointly responsible for each other’s common welfare and share financial
obligations
Documentation must show that the partnership has been established 12 months or longer. It is important that any documents are dated as far back as possible.
Required documentation is:
- (PDF), AND
- Two of the following:
1. Joint lease or mortgage
2. Designation of Domestic Partner as beneficiary for life insurance AND retirement contract
3. Designation of Domestic Partner as primary beneficiary in employee's or insured's will
4. Durable property AND health care powers of attorney
5. Joint ownership of a motor vehicle, joint checking account or joint credit account - If adding additional dependents, see (PDF) for additional information on documents needed.
